History of Banyule Flats Reserve:

The traditional owners of the land around Banyule Flats are the Wurundjeri people. This area has a long tradition of rural allotment and was one of the first ones sold back in the 18 hundreds. Around that time it was part of a sheep station. The soil around this area is very rich in minerals making it a great soil for agriculture that helped the early settlers.
