Is Baby moon a real thing?

Well YES! Just like a honeymoon, a babymoon is a great way to re-connect with your partner. This involves taking a short break before your newborn baby arrives. Just like a honeymoon, this babymoon can be filled with fun activities (within the indications of your doctor) and it can be as close or far as you wish.

When should you plan and take your Babymoon?

Just like all decisions during your pregnancy, we strongly suggest that you discuss your options with your doctor before you start planning, especially if you are considering a trip overseas. In most cases, it is discouraged to make any travels by plane after 36 weeks.

In most cases, the best period of the pregnancy tends to be around the second trimester as you are out of the morning sickness (hopefully) and you are still comfortable and not too heavy.

Where should you go during your Babymoon?

A babymoon can be as easy or elaborate as you wish to make it. Before you make a decision on wild trips, we recommend discussing your options with your doctor. Many couples, especially those expecting their first child, get a feeling of “it’s now or never”, of course, you will be able to travel with children, but things will dramatically change once you become a parent, and your priorities will also most likely shift.

Considering an overseas destination for your Babymoon?

If you are considering and overseas trip, then these are a few things you should consider while planning:

·      Double check when placing your booking with the airline if you can travel (depending on the number of weeks you will be at the time of traveling) as some companies will not accept pregnant women after a number of weeks.

·      Look for resources on how to prepare for long flights, you will need to look for ways to keep the blood flowing around your body to avoid blood clots.

·      Avoid tropical destinations where Malaria, Zika virus, and Dengue fever are circulating in the population

·      Consult with your doctor if you can take any medication in case of diarrhea or vomiting.

Considering staying in Australia for your babymoon?

If you would rather play it safe and stay closer to home, then you can still consider flying to another state or even book luxury accommodation within your own state.

A hotel near home will be a more affordable option and it can still give you the sensation of being in holiday mode, while staying near your doctors and hospital.
